Mala Sikka's journey through life has been a spiritual silk road with various destinations
of dance, meditation and healing along the way, culminating in a tapestry of over twenty years
of practice and teaching.
She started her journey in the arts in 1975 specialising in dance theatre - specifically the study of Kathakali in Paris and in Kerala, South India. In 1985 her Zen master - John Garrie Roshi - gave her his blessing to teach Zen after many years of training. Mala has been practicing Healing-Shiatsu [» More about Healing-Shiatsu and Mala Sikka from the BBC Wales (South-East) website »] since 1991 through her busy practice in Cardiff, and now also practices Seiki-Soho there as a result of her studies with Japanese Master Akinobu Kishi.
In 1997 Mala met The Venerable Namgyal Rinpoche who became a central inspiration and
influence on all of her ongoing work. In addition she has studied under the world renowned Dr. Shen Hongxung in
Buqi and shamanic healers from Indonesia.
Over the years Mala has been invited to hold in-house seminars by a number of schools and Universities across the world as well as being involved with Community Arts organisations . She has created numerous Multicultural Arts Projects including initiating the 'Twinning' between arts centres in Indonesia and Wales.
Since her extensive training in 'Amerta' movement in Java with Master Suprapto Suryodarmo, her art of movement practice and teaching has taken on a greater focus in personal transformation to enable the true self to emerge into pristine awareness by transforming the energetic mind body dynamic in relationship to its natural environment:
"Mala Sikka is a practitioner and teacher with a great quality of experience. She works very well with those at a crossroads in their lives to find a fresh life direction. Mala is one of those people who actively brings out the best in you. What sets her apart is her deep personal practice which enables you to trust her guidance.
Following her into the movement of nature, through the energies of your body, will ultimately result in your life bubbling up all it has to offer - vitality, joy, love, open-mindedness and seeing the world anew and fresh once again."
